Shetland Mules

They say that the proof is in the pudding...

This is the cross that is the foundation of our pasture based lamb production. These ewes inherit the best traits of both their Bluefaced Leicester sire and their Shetland dam.
It's part of a three-way cross breeding sytem that maximizes hybrid vigour and forage conversion efficiency.

  • Some things we've noticed...

These ewes are rugged, thrifty, MILKY, maternal and produce bags of soft, lustrous fleece!

They are growthy; mule twins are nearly as big as their dams by four months of age.

They're super mamas! Lamb them out late as yearlings and they'll be produce wonderfully for you.

Using Texel as a terminal sire works great for us! Twins are born easily and grow rapidly to finish at 90 days of age, but 120 days works too. They produce an exceptional leg and loin eye muscle pattern with superb flavor and quality.

Pictured below are some of our Shetland Mule ewes in real working condition; not grain-fed, posed or primped.
