Shetland Mules

This is the cross that is the foundation of our pasture based lamb production. These ewes inherit the best traits of both their Bluefaced Leicester sire and their Shetland dame. Rugged, thrifty, MILKY, maternal and bags of great fleece!

It's part of a three-way cross breeding sytem that maximizes hybrid vigour and forage conversion efficiency.

Some things we've noticed...
Mule twins are nearly as big as their dames by four months of age.
They're super mamas! Lamb them out late as yearlings and they'll be produce wonderfully for you.
Using Texel as a terminal sire works GREAT for us! Twins are born easily and grow rapidly to finish at 90 days of age, but 120 days works too. I get an exceptional leg and loin eye muscle pattern with superb flavor and quality.
